Recent Updates to Enhance the Tortoise Table Website
I’ve recently made several key updates to improve both the functionality and user experience on the Tortoise Table website. These changes are aimed at making the site more user-friendly while addressing important technical and privacy-related issues to ensure compliance and security for visitors.
Cookie Consent and Privacy Policy Enhancements
One of the major tasks I completed was a comprehensive cookie audit. This involved adding an updated cookie consent system to the site, ensuring that users are fully informed about the cookies the site may store. I also addressed an issue where cookies were being stored even when users rejected them. Additionally, I revamped the website's privacy policy to clearly outline the different types of cookies that may be saved if users choose to accept them, enhancing transparency and trust with visitors.
Forum Enhancements for Better User Security and Experience
The website also features an active PHPBB Forum, which I worked to improve by addressing form spam and registration issues. While the forum already had a question-and-answer CAPTCHA system, I refined the questions to make them more challenging for automated bots. I also enhanced the registration process by introducing user authentication, requiring users to confirm their registration via an email link. These changes have significantly reduced the number of unwanted registrations and improved the overall forum security.
